Hey there!
I am Avery, AVery Motivated Mother and dual-certified Life & Health Coach. I am a Healthy Lifestyle coach focusing on improving women's wellness. I motivate women to reprioritize themselves and reclaim their personal health & wellbeing by intentionally making positive life decisions, actively introducing healthier habits, and consistently acknowledging their personal desires.
Combining my passion for wellness and my purpose of serving others lead me to coaching. I draw from 13 years of professional experience spanning the realm of healthcare and from my personal real-life mom experiences as reference in my coaching practice.
I graduated from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC with a Bachelor of Science degree: Biology and a minor in Psychology. The healthcare industry and social sciences ultimately introduced me to the concept of wellness and how important it is for everyone in my life.
Being a busy mom I choose to live life well so that I can continue showing up as the greatest version of myself everyday, for me and my family. I've learned that introducing small change and building upon existing habits successfully leads to a lasting Healthy Lifestyle. Life is too short to be anything but happy. I want to spread joy by sharing in the little victories of each day. <3
I remember the day that changed 'it all' for me.
It was a regular old work day, well...regular in the times of being a first-time parent during COVID: working remotely, comparing meeting schedules with my husband constantly, and managing the household duties, all the while having our little one home full-time. This work day ended up being particularly busy on my end with stacked zoom meetings back to back. My office space was set up in our living room which also acted as the playroom/daycare center for our son. He was about 9 months at the time, newly mobile and seeking out & requiring more attention. On that day, during my third out of five consecutive meetings, he crawled over to me, pulled up on my office chair, and tugged on my shirt sleeve looking for my attention. When I didn't take my eyes off of the computer he started whining and fussing...likely wondering what could possibly be more important to me, than him. In that exact moment this overwhelmed, over-stressed working mom who 'had it all' and 'kept it all together' actually snapped. Like, I felt annoyed by my own baby. I looked at him and said 'enough whining - mommy is too busy to play right now' then proceeded to hand him something for self-entertainment. My heart sank. This was not a proud parenting moment. In his innocent mind, all he wanted at that time was his mommy...but I was too consumed with people-pleasing as an employee to give him that 'mom' part of me.
WHY!?
*Insert mom-guilt*
After those calls ended (and I gave snuggles to make up for how I acted) I noticed that something inside of me had changed; I legitimately felt different. It turns out that unknowingly, over time, with increasing stressors, I had lost a sense of myself somewhere along the way. I wasn't impressed with the woman, wife, or mother that I was living as at this point in my life. The irony is that I had worked SO hard for so long to get to exactly to where I was...yet, I wasn't able to enjoy any part of it fully. My mental load was on overdrive. I was emotionally, physically, and mentally exhausted from keeping myself at the bottom of my own priority list. A few days later I experienced a complete emotional meltdown. It got to the point where I realized I'd been giving so much, to so many others, for so long, that I hadn't been taking care of myself. It was time for a positive change; time for me to reclaim a sense of myself. That is when I decided to regain control of my life, my health, and most importantly...my wellbeing.
I became Motivated as a Mother to Live Life Well - for myself and for my family.
I believe the path to coaching found me at the perfect time, exactly when I needed it most. This journey has been truly inspiring and transformational for me. I actively decided to take a chance and invest in myself in order to fulfill my passion and reconnect my purpose - all the while, reclaiming my own sense of wellness. I'm here to motivate & inspire other women to lead Healthy Lifestyles and prioritize their health and wellbeing, so they can care for their whole self and for their loved ones.
XO
